Going to Las Vegas for the first time, where would I find the best deals?

I live in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada and I am planning on heading to Las Vegas for a bachelor party in April. I have never been to las vegas. I was wondering where might I find the cheapest flights, accomodations or packages. What places should I visit and what places should I avoid?

It seems simple but lasvegas.com has great deals.

I don’t know what to avoid, but you can really find whatever you’re looking for. Go downtown for a bit. The casinos are older and low key and the odds seem better. If you want to get out of town, check out Hoover Dam and Lake Mead only a few hours away.

I was there for about six day over New Year’s. The nice hotels are Caesar’s Palace, The Venetian, Bellagio, and the new hotel Aria in City Center.. The rest are nice but not like woooow inside. These were huge and had malls inside them that you would get lost. I would avoid Mandalay Bay and Luxor area. Although it may look nice it was like the older people were there. It was also very dead. The action was around the hotels I first mentioned. Caesar’s palace has 80.00 a night during special days all year. Try kayak.com but honestly its can get expensive. Buy now before prices explode.

The best way to get a great deal is to book them separately. For flights, check sites like Southwest airlines, Allegiant Air or US Airways. Also do a search on kayak engine. It will check all airlines going to Vegas and all major travel sites and return the cheapest fare. http://www.lasvegas-how-to.com/cheap-flights.php

For hotels, book directly from the hotels using their discount promo codes to get the maximum discounts. Here are a few codes.

Like the earlier gentleman said, lasvegas.com is pretty good. If your not going to Hoover dam or downtown Vegas, the STAY ON THE STRIP at all times if possible. I made that mistake once and I won’t do it again.

The best is to book air and hotel separately in order to get the best price. For flights I recommend to check kayak.com – it is a very good flight search engine. Regarding hotel rooms try to get a good hotel promo code which you can use on the hotel websites. http://www.vegas-hotels-online.com has the latest Las Vegas hotel promo codes available.

Best place is http://www.LasVegasDirect.com since they compare prices from all different places and are usually the cheapest rates. After that check with the hotel websites.

I had the same problem lastyear so we created a site that automatically finds the best vegas deals. Due to how you live in canada your best bet is to book a package deal.

I go to Vegas twice a month..I live in Los Angeles. You should definitely stay ON the strip, whereas everything is in walking distance that way and taxis can rack up expensive. Which hotel depends on your budget, and what you are doing. Most people aren’t in their rooms for most of the time they are in Vegas, so for that reason, an inexpensive or mid-grade hotel is not a bad idea.

You’ll have old and young people everywhere you go. It’s Vegas. And, even the kid-friendly hotels-like Excalibur have girls in hot shorts and skimpy outfits dancing on motorcycles above slot machines at 4pm in the day. So, it really isn’t as segregated as it once was. In my time going there, I haven’t ran into many kids at all lately. I think the economy has just been to hard for families to take trips like that..so KIDS=NO WORRIES.
To break up the hotels for you
    DIRT CHEAP..AVOID…..
    Circus Circus
    Stratosphere
    Wild Wild West
    Tropicana
    Imperial Palace
    Flamingo
    Ballys
Anything OFF or Just Off the strip

CHEAP BUT DECENT FOR THE PRICE…
    Excalibur
    Luxor
    NYNY
    Monte Carlo

    MID-GRADE…
    MGM Grand
    Mandalay Bay
    Treasure Island
    Mirage

    NICER…
    Bellagio
    The Wynn
    Venetian
    Aria
    Vldara

ROOMS—If you are going on a budget, but want a decent and clean place to stay, I would recommend the “Cheap but decent for the price” category and get an upgraded (usually tower) room. They are the newer built add-on buildings to each casino, and they have a good balance, and worth the upgrade.

    SITES
    DEFINITELY recommend http://www.i4vegas.com
They have a LOT of deals including free stuff with your hotel rooms, and discounts the actual hotels usually don’t have on their webpage. You may even be able to get a flight combo with it.

    AIRLINES-
http://www.jetblue.com is always good for last minute as well, and no luggage fees. Southwest and Allegiant can also be decent. My sister said she got a good flight/hotel package from orbitz.com when she came out a couple weeks ago and got married there. Kayak is usually a good search engine for the flights as well.

    AIRPORT TRANSPORTATION…
If you’re flying alone, avoid a taxi. It will cost about $15 with the taxi one way to get to the strip. on the opposite side of the baggage claim there is an exit that says “Shuttles”. They are shuttle buses that will take you to and from any hotel for $12 ROUND TRIP.

    FOOD…
It varies with each person. If you like nice food, i recommend FIX and Bellagio. If you are on a budget and scared of the many buffet options out there, Excalibur has a decent and large buffet that let’s you go in and out all day for $29. Avoid Luxor buffet. Same deal, but bad food.

    NIGHTSPOTS…
Also a per-taste thing. Ask your Concierge once you get there. Based on the night and describing what you like, they will be able to recommend best.

    BACHELOR PARTY…
There are a LOT of topless shows out there. Never buy a ticket of ANY kind at full price. There are 1/2 price show ticket booths that sell the tickets that didn’t sell out that day for cheap. And, also a lot of 2 for 1 deals with the random coupon books they have all over.

That’s my wrap. Hope it helps. :)
